⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Synopsis:
In Prentisstown, everyone can hear each other's thoughts in an overwhelming, never-ending stream townsfolk call, The Noise. Just a month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd and his dog, Manchee -- whose thoughts Todd can hear too stumble upon an area of complete silence. They find that in a town where privacy is hidden -- something terrible has been hidden -- a secret so awful that Todd and Manchee must run for their lives. But how do you escape when your pursuers can hear your every thought.
What I Liked:
Contrary to what some readers might think, this book was easy to follow along with even with unanswered questions looming over ones head. Finding out what was going on just encouraged me to read further. It didn't impede on my enjoyment of the book, nor did it confuse me.
I've read enough of Patrick Ness's books to understand how he writes. He likes to let things unravel. He likes to keep an air of mystery as long as he possibly can and I admire that. He likes surprises, or rather, he likes surprising people.
What I Didn't Like:
The only thing that kinda agitated me me was that stupid Aaron preacher guy who just WOULDN'T die!! It was so annoying. It was like Orochimaru from Naruto. Another thing I didn't like was the death of a character that I really don't think should've died, at least not yet seeing as their are 2 more books in the series. I also didn't like the fact that the death was easily predicted.
Lastly, is the pace of the book. Almost immediately the story started off full throttle. I don't have a problem with this, I actually prefer it majority of the time. But for nearly the entire book it remained in that gear. Their was never really any down time. I guess that was the point? Considering that in the book, The Noise was a constant thing? Idk. Their were just too many near misses. Too many escapes from near death. It started becoming overkill. No pun intended.
