So every time I walk into a Dollar Tree I have found something of interest there 98% of the time. If I walked out without book(s) in hand, then it's because I've already scoured that particular Dollar Tree and I came back before they've had time to restock.
How Does Dollar Tree Do It?
First, the books in every Dollar Tree are purchased as overstocks. Also, sometimes Dollar Tree will buy books in bulk for an insanely cheap amount because of some minimal damage to the book. Maybe the pages were cut unevenly, the publisher has changed, a dust jacket was missing, or the edition to the first installment of a series has been changed to a new style, so that first edition is no longer being published; leaving Dollar Tree with the leftover copies.
Now that we've got that out of the way, let's get on with the show! I will be providing the synopsis for each book!
The Night of the Comet by George Bishop
For his fourteenth birthday, Alan Broussard, Jr., receives a telescope from his father a science teacher at the local high school. For Alan Broussard, Sr., the comet is a connection to his past and a bridge to his son, with whom he's eager to share his love for the stars.
But the only heavenly body Junior has any interest in is his captivating new neighbor and classmate, Gabriella Martello.
Meanwhile, his mother, Lydia, see's the comet - her husband's obsession with it - as a one more thing that keeps her from the bigger, brighter life she once imagined for herself far from the swampy environs of Terrebonne Louisiana.
The family begins to crumble under the weight of expectations, until a startling turn of events will leave both father and son much less certain about the laws that govern their universe.

Burial Rites by Hannah Kent
*This is actually my third time purchasing this book. I first ordered it as a scratch and dent copy from bookoutlet.com and it ended up not having a dust jacket. So of course I wasn't satisfied with that. I found a few copies at my local Dollar Tree, however, they all had this big white sticker on the front of the covers and since the material of the dust jacket is paper, I would have torn the cover in the process of taking it off. BUT, I bought it anyway cause I was desperate and thought I would never get an opportunity like this. But when I found a Dollar Tree in a different area, they had Burial Rites in stock as well and WITHOUT the sticker! So, yeah, I bought it!!
