The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ehhhhhh

There was something this last installment lacked. I don’t really know what it is… It was an incredibly long book, yet I don’t really feel as if anything happened. Majority of the book was spent preparing for retaliation or planning battle strategies. Only a small section of the book had some actual action in it. I also felt as though Lia and Kaden weren’t really a couple even though they were. Lia was kinda annoying in this read. Which is shocking because i thought her and I were on good terms within the first two books in the series.

But

It kinda had this Narnia/Lord of the Rings vibe to it with all the war happenings going on. I would’ve liked it if some new characters were introduced. Ones that actual had some  good character development and substance. But that couldn’t happen because the already existing characters weren’t expounded on well enough… We just followed the same characters without getting enough substance.

Oh Yeah

I did like the relational development between Rafe and Pauline. I didn’t really see that one coming. Or maybe I was dull from it being 1 year since I read the previous installment…. oops.

Anyway, I did, however, have no complaints about the ending. I thought it was well executed.

Now, what Pearson needs to do is come about with am installment from Kaden’s POV.
