Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Synopsis:

As a world-ending war surges to life around them, Todd and Viola face unspeakably vast consequences of each action, each word, each monstrous decision. The indigenous Spackle are mobilizing to avenge their murdered people; ruthless human leaders are defending their factions; a convoy of new settlers is approaching. All the while, the ceaseless noise continues laying thoughts bare - and the projected will of the few threatens to overwhelm the desperate desire of the many.

Likes:

Well, this book blew my mind away. The whole series did, to be blunt. Their were several sub plots of the book that just made this something powerful and beautiful. Even the smaller issues in the book contributed instead of just acting like boring fillers. The strained relationship between Mayor Prentiss and Todd; the unspoken feelings between Lee and Viola, because of course, every one loves the smell of a love triangle. The back and forth between Mistress Coyle and Prentiss, Ben as the Source, The Return and The Sky and etc.. Their was so much to keep my attention and I can't believe I didn't get overwhelmed; although I did have time to get used to Ness's pace with this being my third journey.

Dislikes:

I actually liked the way it ended and the bonus included. I don't like that Todd and the Return never confronted each other. That really would've been a vital part to this story and to Todd's evolution as a person. I would've also liked more chapters in The Return's POV. I liked when Ness put us among the Spackle, he could've stood to do more since they were one of the main plots of the storyline.
