Every Day by David Levithan

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Synopsis

“A” wakes up in a different body everyday. It’s been happening since he was born and over time he has learned to accept it and navigate the life of every body he inhabits. He's managed to get through his ever-changing life without telling anyone his secret.

But when he wakes up as a boy named Justin with an amazing girlfriend named Rhiannon, he begins to consider finally letting someone in. He makes her want to fight to stay in control for more than one day. But can he afford to pursue the love of one person as a different person everyday?

I Stand Corrected

I had already mentally prepped my mind to believe that the concept of this book would only take it so far. This dude is a different person each day. Girl or boy. Within reading the first few pages I realized what an ingenious idea this was. Levithan stumbled upon a gold mine. The possibilities for this synopsis are endless.

This book addresses every current issue within our society today. Gender, race, youth, identity.. you name it. I love that Levithan shows us that it IS possible to fall in love with someone for who they are and not the vessel they possess. Such a relative message among our youth. Usually social status and appearance play more of a vital role within teens rather than personality.

I fell in love with A. His perseverance to keep after Rhiannon; his self control to hold back his personal actions and words for the bodies he resided in; and his patience with the hand he was dealt. It was like the audience was getting several stories in one, therefore, I was never bored or uninterested throughout the book.
