Synopsis:
Hannah Legare's father went missing in the spring of 1985, or at least that's what she believes. Her family & the rest of her small town believed he died. They even held a funeral service for him. After two decades, Hannah is in Califronia, 35, married, owns a business and has more money than she knows what to do with. She's moved on, or at least she thinks she has.
An unfortunate event lands her back home to her mother's house, where everything in the past comes flooding back. Hannah's father is gone, but she still hasn't let go. She won't let go until she finds out what happened to him.
This may not have received a high rating from me. But a 3 star rating is not dishonorable in my book. Despite the rating I'm still glad I bought this book (was only 10 cents) because I truly did learn from it. I enjoyed the read & would say it was worth it. Something in this book made me feel ... nostalgic. It was real, raw, and packed with emotion.
Katie Crouch's writing was nothing special, but sometimes simplicity gets the job done better than any wordy writing style could.
I loved Hannah's character. Not at all portrayed as perfect. This girl was a mess, but I saw the beauty in her mess. The hope. Hannah's heart and mind were like tornados. She was distraught and broken, and this made her act desperately, which in turn made her genuine and admirable. Every chapter in the book led to something. No word was wasted.
Dislikes? Not many. Just the unwrapped ending. Would have appreciated some type of clue as to how things turned out. Kate Crouch didn't give me much.
